Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student will possess a fundamental knowledge of the metalanguage and different aspects of a descriptive-analytical model of the Spanish language. He/She will be competent in all the communicative abilities according to the Council of Europe Framework Lebel B2.

Course contents

PANISH LINGUISTICS (First semester course)

1. Syntax: object of study and trends.

2. Syntactic categories. Syntactic functions of the types of words

3. Types and function of syntagmas.

4. Enunciate. Syntactic analysis: the simple phrase and the complex phrase.

5. Colloquial syntax.

 

SPANISH LANGUAGE PRACTICE (Annual course - dott.ssa Delia Cócera, dott. Héctor Rodríguez, dott. Victoria Soler)

B1 Threshold B2 Vantage Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. Can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

  • Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation.
  • Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
  • Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

SPANISH LANGUAGE PRACTICE

The compulsory manuals and the other texts adopted on this course will be communicate at the beginning of the lessons.

Teaching methods

SPANISH LANGUAGE PRACTICE

- implementation of activities in order to consolidate the knowledge about the Spanish morphosyntactic structures;
- implementation of activities in order to increase the lexis and to understand the pragmatic connotations;
- implementation of activities in order to consolidate a correct phonological system and correct orthography;
- various activities in order to develop the four basic abilities.

Assessment methods

SPANISH LINGUISTICS

Oral exam, in Spanish, about the contents of the course and syntactic analysis of a complex phrase.

The student shall pass a previous written exam (Spanish Language Practice) in order to take the oral exam of Spanish Language and Linguistics 2.

SPANISH LANGUAGE PRACTICE

Written examination
This course's final evaluation will be made by means of a written exam that students should pass in order to be admitted to the oral exam (only the students with a positive result of 18/30 will be allowed to take the oral exam). The student should demonstrate the knowledge of the different items practised during the course.

Oral examination
Once the written exam will be passed and no more than six sessions after the written examination, the student will be allowed to take the oral exam. He/she should demonstrate that he/she knows the morphosyntactic, semantic and pragmatic contents presented during the course in an oral explanation of the texts of the dossier presented by the assistant lecturers.
