Learning outcomes

By the end of the course students will have gained a good knowledge of the Dutch society in the Golden Age, of its theatrical culture. Students will also have developed skills in 'reading' a Renaissance play.

Course contents

The literature of the (former) Dutch Indies: introdution to Dutch postcolonial studies.

Teaching methods

Students will write a paper and present it orally at the end of the semester.

Paper and written exam.
