The University Identity and Institutional Brand System

The identity of the Alma Mater Studiorum-University of Bologna can be defined as the set of values characterising the institution, its unique historical heritage, the products and services it delivers generally in the fields of learning, research and culture.

The Alma Mater Studiorum has adopted a binding, regulatory graphic image with a Institutional Brand and headings applied to headed paper, business cards, signposting, websites, etc. This essential, formal structure is adopted by the whole University.

The Identity System enhances the effectiveness and coordination of all current and future communication instruments by all university bodies, to ensure that they are recognisable and distinguishable. Effective communication thus helps to establish the University's public image.

The University Institutional Brand

To ensure the consistency and external recognisability of the University, and to enhance its distinctive identity, in 2002 the University of Bologna produced a single, official version of its Institutional Brand.
