Child Protection Policy

The University's Policy for the protection of childhood in research activities.

The Policy for the protection of childhood in research activities aims to express the University's commitment to respecting the rights of children and adolescents, as affirmed in the Constitution of the Italian Republic, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989), the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (1950) and the relevant case law of the European Court of Human Rights, and in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union (2000).

With this Policy, the University acknowledges its responsibility to protect, realize, and promote the well-being of all underage individuals involved in the scientific research activities of the University. To this end, it commits to ensuring and maintaining the highest legal, ethical, and moral standards applicable, always considering the principles underlying the Convention on the Rights of the Child and Adolescent: the principle of the paramountcy of the best interests of minors, the prohibition of discrimination, and the right to be heard.

Approved on 26 March 2024, the Policy has been developed in line with the University's Code of Ethics and Conduct, in collaboration with the professors, researchers, and scholars who are part of the CREAN (Children’s Rights European Academic Network) working group of the University of Bologna.
