Learning outcomes

At the end of the workshop, the student: - is able to manage the main tools of an editor; - knows the editorial process, from the evaluation of a text to its publication; - is able to orient him or herself in the editorial dynamics of online and open access publications.

Course contents

The workshop consists of 5 meetings of 4 hours each dedicated to some of the articulations of editorial work:

1. literary genres and book series

2. the editor's work

3. an editorial staff at work

4. publishing academic journals

5. the academic and scientific publishing market, publishing online and in open access

The workshop will take place with the collaboration of some editors from the publishing house Il Mulino (Bologna).

Teaching methods

Each class will be divided into two hours of lectures and two hours of exercises in which students will learn the main skills and techniques of editorial work.

Assessment methods

For assessment purposes, attendance at the workshop is compulsory and student attendance will be recorded. The final grade is linked to active participation in the classroom and the work carried out during the weekly exercises.
