Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, students will be able to gain a deeper understanding of the role played by journalism not only in understanding the causes of national and international armed conflicts, but also in activating state and non-state responses to the outbreak of violence. In particular, students will acquire the necessary tools to understand how the exposure to and relationship with journalism on the part of governments, international organisations, civil society actors and public opinion is today a significant element of international politics in conflict situations and in legitimising or criticising the international conduct of state and inter-state actors.
