Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, students have gained basic knowledge about the bibliographical sources supplied by the University of Bologna and some international organizations. Students are also able to search for and retrieve information available on such sources in order to effectively prepare themselves for the written exam concluding their university career.
Course contents
The course focuses on the following topics: library repertoires; online catalogues of books and scientific journals; documents search and retrieval; access to electronic resources; scholarly databases; introduction to the drafting of academic papers; the structure of papers; bibliographical citations according to the international standards.
Readings/Bibliography
Students will work on electronic sources (www.sba.unibo.it ) and materials that will be made available during the course.
Teaching methods
Lectures, practical training and class-room exercises.
Important: attendance is compulsory. To be admitted to the final exam of the course, students are required to attend at least 11 lessons out of 15 (70%).
Due to to the characteristics and didactic methods of the course, students must previously attend Moduli 1 e 2 di formazione sulla sicurezza nei luoghi di studio, [https://elearning-sicurezza.unibo.it/] in modalità e-learning.
Assessment methods
At the end of the course students having attended at least 70% of the course will enter a final exam requiring them: a) to devise a research question and the related keywords; b) to search for the relevant bibliographical references; c) to write a pertinent bibliography according to the international standards.
