Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, students will: - know the main research methods and data analysis applied to WOP field; - know the methods to assess personnel performance at different levels, in order to develop performance-focused interventions - be able to identify appropriate measures, to use statistical tools for data analysis, and to present results. - be able to develop a project in personnel psychology for the organizational management.

Course contents

Module 1
The formulation of scientific hypotheses: research design, choice of sample and tools, data collection and database construction.
Sample description: descriptive statistics and chi-square test.
Introduction to inferential statistics. Statistical significance and effect size.
Parametric tests: assumptions, correlation analysis, multiple linear regression analysis, analysis of variance (ANOVA).
Quantitative measurement tools: structural validity and exploratory factor analysis (AFE); calculation of reliability.

Module 2
ANCOVA, MANOVA and ANOVA for repeated measures.
Mediation and moderation models.
Non-parametric tests: logistic regression analysis.
Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA).

The course will take place during the first cycle of lectures (from October to December 2022) at the Department of Psychology in Cesena.

Teaching methods

Brief lessons accompanied by group exercises.

Assessment methods

Report of statistical analyses run on a database provided by the teacher, discussion, and presentation of the results.
