Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student is familiar with the fundamental aspects of the earliest phases of the language, the history of the language and culture of the linguistic area related to Chinese language and literature, and has got the simplest tools necessary for reading and evaluating texts in order to assess their transformations through the centuries.

Course contents

The morphological, syntactic and semantic aspects fundamental for the acquisition of those linguistic skills necessary for the comprehension of classical Chinese text at basic and intermediate level will be illustrated. Elements of the history of Chinese linguistics will also be introduced in order to understand the development of Chinese linguistic thought, on the basis of which the texts will be analysed.
