The course of the lessons intends to offer a critical approach to the Italian Literature, with a deep knowledge of some important works, as those that follows.

Course contents

ABOUT LITERATURE AND CINEMA. Leonardo Sciascia between crime novel, tale of enquiry and filmed art.

The course (wich consists in 60 hours of lessons) tries to present to the students the figure of Leonardo Sciascia (1921-1989). In his works, the nature and the literary structure of the crime novel became a story of enquiry of truth (both in the ancient history and in the italian life of the Novecento).

The course consists in reading and in the explanation of some books of the writer and in the vision of some movies, connected in part with the themes of the course, in part inspired to some workes of Sciascia himself.

Students wich are regularly present to the course of lessons (with no more than 5 absences) should study only 3 books of Sciascia (one of wich has to be Il metodo di Maigret). There is no distinction between students in regular attendance and the others about the study of the essays.

Teaching methods

The teaching method implies a series of lectures, but it needs a sort of "collaborative learning" from the students. With this purpose, we will use music and films as "supports" of the lessons.

Assessment methods

The assessment is determined, in part, by an oral exam, and, in other part, it consists in a paper (that must be done before the oral assessment with Prof. Veglia).

Teaching tools

Pictures, video, films, interviews etc. (on YouTube).
