Course contents
Participatory planning
The welfare system seems lacking the resources to be supported. The economic crisis has accentuated the elements of social fragmentation and brought out needs difficult to satisfy.
In this context, the participation acquires a particular value in the social projects based on the co-responsibility of different social subjects and the community.
This approach is used in different sectors through different methodologies. In the case of social services, it has found expression in various laws (L. 285/97, L. 40/98, L. 45/99). In particular the law L. 328/00 also provides for instrument of participation such as the area plans of social services.
In this context, the role of the designer is defined differently, placing himself not as an independent and isolated professional, but as a technician capable of promoting contributions from his interlocutors, who, in many cases, are not experts and so need a support.
The designer has to integrate his specific technical competence with those skills necessary to act in / with the community, promote the building of collective spaces for the conception and implementation of projects and the building of shared organizations.
The workshop aims to promote reflection on the following aspects:
1. The building of participation spaces: the example of Open Space Technology
2. The building of relationships: the mediation of conflicts in the organization
3. The reading of the community: the methodology of action research
