Learning outcomes
The main topics of the course lectures are the methods for the concept generation of industrial product, the concept selection methods, the technical requirements and specifications, the system level design and the creation and description of geometric models and functional aspects.
Modern tools and methods in product development are described and physical and virtual prototyping techniques are highlighted. Geometrical modeling of free form surfaces is taught.
Moreover, technological aspects of Reverse Engineering and Rapid prototyping are studied also in relation with their function in the early design phases.
The class is based on the development of a group design project. Thus students have the opportunity to experiment theories under guidelines provided by the professors.
