Academic Year 2021/2022
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to give students a complete overview on the main classes of organic materials, with particular relevance to their preparation, their chemical-physical properties and structure, and to their applications. In particular, students will be able to understand the connections between the chemical structure and the technological peculiarities of the most important organic materials such as dyes, luminescent and photochromic materials, organic electronics, liquid crystals. Competences will be acquired in the field of nanomedicine studying advanced materials such as gels and organic-inorganic hybrid nanostructured metallic systems.
Course contents
Suggestions: expertise in advanced organic chemistry, in particular synthesis and reactivity of the main functional groups, concerted reactions, heterocyclic aromatic compounds and coupling reactions. Recommended course: Chimica Organica con Laboratorio M.
Course contents:

Teaching methods
The course consists of lectures accompanied by exercises of application of the presented concepts
Assessment methods
The assessment of learning is through the only final exam which is supported at one of the six defined by the teacher during the academic year during exam sessions arranged by the program.
To carry out the oral exam registration is required through "Alma exams ", in respect of the mandatory deadlines.
The final examination confirms the acquisition of the knowledge and skills expected by conducting an oral examination.
The assessment of the learning consists in an oral presentation on a research topic learned during the course selected by the student.
The students will have to use the power point with a maximum of 15 slides according to materials deduced using 1 paper among 3-4 papers proposed to the teacher.
During the oral exam, the student explain the article, also making use of a specially prepared presentation, with particular regard to the synthesis and properties of the compounds described.
Then a discussion follows on the presented concepts and the theme of the article inspires to discuss the basic concepts common to all the topics covered in class.
The final assessment takes into account exposure article of the ability to discuss the general concepts
