Course contents

We shall examine the radical changes occurred in the last fifty years. Besides literary texts, we shall watch movies that well reflect such changes (Jia Zhangke's The World, Lou Ye's Tuina, Xu Tong's "Cut Out of the Eyes" among others) and explore works from contemporary art and photography. As far as literary texts, we shall read stories from "root-seeking literature", "avant-garde fiction", neorealism, the Rupture movement, the Nobel prize Mo Yan and the Franz Kafka Award Winner Yan Lianke.
