Course contents

The course aims to work on the main grammatical and syntactic structures needed in order to reach a minimum level of B1 (according to the Council of Europe Framework) in spoken and oral French.

The course program will cover the following grammar topics: pronouns (subject, impersonal subjects, object pronoun order, relative pronouns); nouns and adjectives (gender and number); verbs (conjugations); verbs (passive voice, impersonal verbs, pronominal verbs); articles (indefinite articles, definite articles, partitive articles, "articles contractés", article omission); prepositions; questions; interrogative (pronouns and adjectives); negation; possessive (pronouns and adjectives); demonstrative (pronouns and adjectives); indefinite (pronouns and adjectives); comparisons; adverbs; "gallicismes".

Special attention will be granted to the french and francophone press.

For Attending and Non Attending students:

Assessment methods

ATTENDING STUDENTS

The final exam consists of a written test composed of three parts:
1. questions covering all the grammar topics of the program;
2. questions about a written text (true-false);
3. short writing.

NON ATTENDING STUDENTS

For non attending students, the final exam consists of:

- a written test composed of three parts:
1. questions covering all the grammar topics of the program;
2. questions about a a written text (true-false);
3. writing.

- an oral part.
