Learning outcomes

The course gives the basic information about the Analytical Chemistry, proposing and discussing the first methods (potentiometry, conductometry and voltammetry) for the quantification of analytes.

Course contents

Modulo 1:

Volumetric analysis: acid-base, precipitation, complexometric and oxido-reduction titrations.

Atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS)

inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES).

Liquid chromatography (HPLC)

Calibration methods and quantitative analysis

Laboratory experiences

Modulo 2:

Gas chromatography

Detector for gas chromatography

Mass spectrometry

FTIRand spectroscopic techniques

Exercices for the identification of organic compounds
