Course Unit Page

Academic Year 2018/2019

Learning outcomes

Students will strengthen their high-school skills in mathematics, so as to be ready to attend a first course in calculus

Course contents

Sets, numbers; equations and inequalities of first and second degree; fractional equations and inequalities; exponential and logarithmic functions; analytic geometry (in the Cartesian plane); brief introduction to functions; trigonometric functions

Readings/Bibliography

No specific textbook is needed. Any textbook of high-school mathematics will be fine

Teaching methods

Lessons will be taught at the blackboard. A lot of exercises and examples will be presented. Some problem will be directly solved by students (at the blackboard).

Assessment methods

There will be no final exam

Teaching tools

None, since lessons are "traditional", i.e. they will be given at the blackboard, using a chalk marker. Thus, students will be able to watch the full (step by step) development of every exercise
