Learning outcomes

With the historiographic discussion on the one hand, the examination of specific situations on the other, at the end of the course the student reaches an advanced understanding of the problems of the discipline and receives adequate training on the technical-operative side.

Course contents

The special archival module will illustrate the origins, development and management of the archive as a direct consequence of the activity of the producer. Archives belonging to general and particular typological categories will be presented, distinguishing between public state archives and public non-state archives, personal private archives, families and business archives.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons; visits to archives, documentation centers and deputy bodies.

Teaching also takes place in 'blended learning' mode. Progressively on the lessons in the classroom the consolidation and in-depth material will appear at the e-learning address. Access to the e-learning page is possible with the institutional credentials and a password that will be provided in the teacher's lecture or which can be requested from the teacher by e-mail.

Assessment methods

A first verification step, not mandatory, consists in carrying out the exercises loaded on the e-learning platform for an ongoing evaluation of learning.

The exam consists of an oral interview to evaluate the knowledge of the topics discussed during the lessons and of the recommended bibliography, and the critical and methodological skills acquired by the student.

They will evaluate:

- The mastery of the contents

- The ability to synthesise and analyze themes and concepts

- The ability to know how to express properly and with appropriate language to the subject matter.

We warn that gaps in training and / or inappropriate language will lead to votes that will not exceed sufficiency. Formal gaps, inappropriate language, lack of orientation in the bibliographic materials offered during the course will be negatively evaluated.
