Learning outcomes
Use and application of quantitative instrumental analysis to chemical and bioanalytical problem: spettrcoscopic techniques (UV-vis, MS), separative techniques (HPLC and field-flow fractionation), chemiluminescence, enzymatic tests, immunoassays. Different analytical assay format, data elaboration and report.
Course contents
Spectroscopy: Uv-vis, atomic absorption, chemiluminescence.
Separative techniques: HPLC (reverse-phase HPLC, size exclusion chromatography, ionic chromatography); field-flow fractionation
Analysis of complex samples: digestion; matrix effect determination.
Methods for the determination of protein concentration.
Enzymatic analysis: Kinetics of enzyme-catalyzed reactions - Measurement of an enzyme catalitic activity - Measurement of the concentration of an enzymatic substrate.
Immonological methods: Competitive and non competitive immunoassays - Homogeneous and heterogeneous immunoassays - Immobilization of antibodies - Synthesis of enzymatic, fluorescent, or chemiluminescent tracers and detection methods - Development and optimization of an immunoassay.
General aspects for gene analysis.
