Learning outcomes

 

M-PSI/05: At the end of the activity students will know: how to apply community psychology methods and principles in the development of a community based project, focusing in particular on stakeholder analysis, problem analysis, analysis and definition of objectives, definition of an evaluation plan.

M-PSI/08: At the end of the laboratory students will know:

- the assessment in relation to the clinical case;

- the clinical methodology in relation to the clinical case.

 

 

Course contents

M-PSI/05

During Community Psychology Lab students will have the opportunity to apply community psychology method and tools to develop health promotion/ community intervention projects. The activities will include:

-community analysis in collaboration with the local stakeholders/focus group with the target population;

-Planning of the intervention (aims and methods) and of the evaluation

- Intervention in the community

- Documentation (final group report)

Topics covered during classes will be the following: principles and theoretical models of project and intervention design; participatory methods for project and intervention design (Photovoice, focus groups); applied project and intervention design.

M-PSI/08

The purpose of the activity is to provide information on assessment methodology in Clinical Psychology by conducting individual interviews, family and group sessions, the use of specific tools and examples of clinical cases. The learning module also will help students to recognize the symptoms and the psychopathological syndromes, to formulate a differential diagnosis and to carry out a functional analysis of the clinical case.

  • Examples of clinical interview based on simulated and group discussions
  • The systemic approach in individual, couples and family psychological evaluation
  • Psychological assessment of the dyad and triad in infancy: clinical examples
  • Assessment of attachment in adult age: clinical examples
  • Examples of diagnostic formulation and differential diagnosis through the functional analysis of clinical cases

Classes will be given by Prof. Franco Baldoni and Prof.ssa Chiara Ruini.

The course will take place during the first semester (October-January) for the M-PSI/05 part and during the second semester (March-May) for the M-PSI/08 part at the Cesena Campus of the School of Psychology and Education (address: piazza Aldo Moro, 90 and viale Europa, 115, Cesena).

Teaching methods

M-PSI/05

Teaching methods is based on Service-Learning methodology and include lessons, group work, group discussions, case studies, data collection, documentation of the work performed, critical reflection. The class will be divide in small groups, working on the same project. The teachers will provide training, supervision, counseling referred to Theory of the social planning, Tools preparation, Data analysis, Elaboration of the project and the evaluation plan, documentation.

M-PSI/08

Use will be made of role-playing methods, small group work, guided discussions, slides, videotapes and further reading suggested.

Assessment methods

Active participation to the activities proposed during classes, and full attendance are essential in order to be admitted to the final examination. Signatures will be taken at the beginning and at the end of each class. 

M-PSI/05

A final group report explaining the phases of the intervention of prevention/promotion of wellbeing in the community will be presented at the end of the lab, as well as a written individual critical reflection on the experience (about 1500-4000 characters).

M-PSI/08

The final test will take place during the last class scheduled and will consist of a written report on the experience of the laboratory in 30 minutes time.
