Learning outcomes
At the end of the module, the student knows the main models of nursing care delivery in different care contexts. They identify the main competencies of other members of the healthcare team and relate them to their own. They identify the organizational principles of continuity of care, the roles, and the system of responsibilities using the approach specific to clinical governance.
Course contents
- Analysis of the organization of social and health services;
- The National Health Service in Italy: principles and evolution;
- The elements of complexity in healthcare organizations;
- Departmental structures;
- Organizational models of the hospital and territory meso-system (hospitals for intensity of care);
- Organizational models of unit assistance (by tasks, functions, sectors, small teams, primary care, case management);
- Care models that are consistent with the needs/expectations of users, operators, and services;
- Definition of care priorities and the tools to ensure assistance (deferrable/indeferrable interventions) (decision-making);
- Roles and competencies of the figures present in the organization (nursing coordinator, manager, other figures...);
- Accreditation of healthcare facilities and opportunities for the development of quality systems;
- The Continuous Medical Education System: Continuing and Permanent Training;
- Clinical governance: integrative tools: guidelines, procedures, protocols, work plans, and PDTA;
- Reliability of activities: areas of trust and delegation in the care process;
- OSSC/OSS: role profile and competencies based on the content of the State-Regions Conference (2003/2005);
- Differences between OSS/OSSC/Nursing Assistant profiles; - Care complexity of patients and determining the reliability of activities;
- Supervision processes (regulatory, educational, and support) of support operators;
- Outcomes of care (Nursing Outcomes, outcomes sensitive to nursing care, Nursing Minimum Data Set);
- Indicators (process, outcome, ...); - Planning tools for care: the personalized plan, the standard plan, clinical pathways; - Deliveries and transfer of information to ensure continuity of care: methodologies, settings, criteria for selecting essential data;

Assessment methods
To verify the achievement of the previously indicated educational objectives, the final evaluation of the course includes a written test that is a prerequisite for the oral exam, in which the student's preparation will be assessed on their understanding of the topics covered in the course, critical acquisition of concepts, and the ability to apply them independently and consciously.
