Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student: - knows the epistemological and methodological-procedural foundations of didactics; - knows the general categories of didactics considered in the different fields of extracurricular social and cultural education; - is able to interpret the characteristics of different contexts and hypothesize didactic strategies of problem solving; - knows the fundamental competencies that characterize the professionalism of the social and cultural educator; - is able to reflect on his or her own competencies as an educator and to modify his or her own behaviors and roles in different social and cultural contexts; - knows the main techniques related to group work and the functioning of working groups; - through group work is able to carry out discussions, build tools for interpreting cases and hypothesize shared intervention strategies; - knows the fundamental elements that characterize community work and participatory planning; - is able to develop educational projects starting from the analysis of needs and territorial resources, proactively involving the recipients of the projects themselves in a perspective of self-determination; - is able to choose the most appropriate strategies to promote collaboration between different subjects/entities, identifying synergies and points of convergence
Course contents
The course addresses the theoretical foundations and different interpretations of the meanings of didactics in the current scientific debate, leading to the outlining of methodologies, strategies and tools of didactic mediation in relation to the different needs and types of social-educational services.
The topics covered within the program are:
- the definition of didactics as a complex of methodologies for educational intervention in socio-cultural and welfare contexts
- the conceptual categories of didactics: the one who educates, the one being educated, content, languages and contexts of intervention
- didactics as mediation: of languages, relationships, strategies, materials
- didactic techniques and operational tools
- the working group in the educational professions
- instructional design and participatory processes: some reference models.
- the educator within different work contexts: conntect educational theories and practices (tools, critical nodes, strategies) through testimonial lessons with educators and educational professinists

Students who have the course Models of Educational Mediation and Group Strategies - 10 cfu - in their syllabus should contact the lecturer to arrange a new syllabus.
Teaching methods
Interactive lecture, video analysis, group work and discussion of case studies, analysis and reflection on projects, testimonial lectures
Assessment methods
Argumentative exam.
During the examination, knowledge will be tested in relation to the topics covered during teaching and contained in the texts in the bibliography.
Indicators contributing to the assessment include:
- relevance of the answer to the question posed by the lecturer;
- clarity in the exposition of content;
- use of appropriate disciplinary language;
- ability to go in-depth and link between the main themes;
- ability to provide examples and cases related to the socio-educational contexts in which the social and cultural educator works.
The grade will be expressed in thirtieths
