Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, student will learn to analyse, in various conditions, diverse characteristics of physical and chemical processes of interest for process manufacturing/industry.

Course contents

Students, divided in groups, will take part to five different practical lessons in a teaching lab, after a theoretical indroduction of all the topics druning dedicated forntal lessons.

The five practical lesson will be:

1. pressure drops in pipe line and characteristic curve of a pump.
2. ultrafiltration of PVP soilution using a spiral-wound membrane.
3. determination of the gas-liquid transport coefficient (kLa) using a stirred fermentor.
4. determination of the diffusion coefficient in liquid.

Teaching methods

Frontal lessons for the theoretical intriduction of the topics of the course and successive practical lessons in the teaching lab.

Assessment methods

Attendance to practical lessons (compulsory) will be verified and reports for each practical lessons must be consigned at the end of the course.

During an oral examination, one of the 4 practical lessons will be discussed.
Note: practical lessons's reports do not contribute to the vote of the oral examination.
