Learning outcomes

At the end of the lectures the student will have acquired the essential notions on the general characteristics of Health Systems, on the programming, organization, and management of the healthcare processes at the hospital and territorial level, and on healthcare economics.

Course contents

The health system: evolution of healthcare organization in Italy.

Corporatization in healthcare, and structures of the healthcare services offer. 

Healthcare management: definition and functions.

The structuring of hospital care: hospital discharge sheets (SDO) and DRG system.

The territorial network.

Systems of case-mix classification, healthcare financing systems, and potential impact on the equity of care.

Systems to evaluate healthcare services.

The complexity of programming.
