Academic Year 2024/2025

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Information, Cultures and Media Organisation (cod. 5698)

Learning outcomes

The workshop aims to provide students with skills in the field of journalistic and media content production (television, radio, and internet). At the end of the course, the student: - masters the main techniques of producing informational and media content - is able to independently produce informational content in written, oral, or multimedia form.

Course contents

The workshop proposes a path of analysis and discussion of the relationship between aesthetics and global processes. We will focus in particular on the role of logistics, infrastructures, and the impact of artificial intelligence.

We will try to answer several questions: how are global processes able to advance their own aesthetic normativity? How do these processes enter the world of art and influence it? How does artistic research address these processes?

In particular, in the first part of the workshop, theoretical hypotheses on the role of logistics and infrastructures will be introduced, starting from the reorganization of space and landscape. In the second part of the workshop, the impact of artificial intelligence in the world of music and visual arts will be analyzed and discussed. In this part of the workshop, some of the arguments contesting the effects of artificial intelligence on artistic production will be presented and discussed, along with other positions that claim the possibility of creative and subversive use of digital tools.

The questions and themes proposed here will be addressed promoting students’ participation and making extensive use of video materials, audio, and websites related to artistic projects. Among the names we will encounter are Alan Sekula, Ursula Bieman, Cate Crawford, Vladan Joler, and Holly Herndon.
