Learning outcomes
The course aims to raise awareness of the main aspects related to the evolution of science museums in relation to collections, spaces, installations and audiences. In particular, it explores the main didactic strategies that allow to mediate the contents of the sciences making them usable to different audiences through educational experiences carried out in real and virtual spaces. At the end of the course, the student: (a) knows the categories of museum teaching; (b) knows the main pedagogical and methodological aspects relating to museum teaching and scientific heritage; (c) knows the contemporary debate concerning the educational function of museums and heritage pedagogy with particular reference to national and international guidelines; (d) knows the didactic methodologies necessary for the designing of educational interventions for the different users; (e) will be able to independently carry out research on material and documentation functional to the knowledge of the main scientific museum institutions at national and international level; (f) will be able to analyze the technological innovation elements of museums; (g) will be able the characteristics of different museum contexts, also identifying their problems; h) will be able to use scientific knowledge and skills in relation to museum professionals.
Course contents
The course aims to raise awareness of the main aspects related to the evolution of science museums in relation to collections, spaces, installations, purposes and types of public. In particular, it explores the main didactic strategies to mediate the contents of the sciences making them accessible to different audiences through immersive experiences.
The course aims to introduce the elements of virtual museology through the analysis of digital tools and environments with particular reference to virtual and augmented reality platforms. The different approaches for the design of virtual didactic paths are also explored.
The course aims to raise awareness and implement the relational and professional skills of those who work in museums, to foster a culture of inclusion and hospitality by making the scientific heritage, not only really accessible, but also a tool for creating experiences training courses aimed at all citizens.
