Learning outcomes
The course aims to introduce the student to the main technologies involved in the production of oil&gas fractions, focusing on up-stream and mid-stream operations, and to technologies for energy transition.
Course contents
-
Oil&Gas reservoirs: characteristics and exploitation strategies
-
Up-stream processes: dewatering, sweetening, stabilization, etc.
-
Up-stream technologies: on-shore technologies, conventional off-shore technologies, floating, sub-sea and deep-water technologies.
-
Mid-stream: Oil&Gas long range trasportation; strategies for natural gas transportation; liquefied natural gas; gas to liquid.
-
Down-stream: fundamentals of refining processes
-
Energy transition: concept and strategies
-
Energy transition: biofuels, biodiesel and blended fuels
-
Energy transition: systems for integrated generation and chemical storage: Gas to Wire, Wire to Gas, Hydromethane, Methanol.
-
Hybrid production systems: integration of renewable electric production with conventional generation from natural gas: chemical storage, hydromethane, synthetic fuels.
