Learning outcomes
At the end of the laboratory the student is able to independently conduct an experiment in the field of experimental linguistics, in its various phases. Can organize and collect complex information in a coherent form and can apply critical analysis methodologies on linguistic phenomena also using statistical and computational tools.
Course contents
Four extremely relevant aspects for the training of a linguist will be addressed, all designed around the topic of writing a scientific text, and in particular:
- how to organise and write a scientific text, 12 hours,
held by Y. Martari (2, 3, 4 april) and N. Grandi (14, 15, 16 may); - LaTeX for writing theses and scientific articles, 6 hours, held by F. Tamburini (9, 10, 11 april);
- bibliography and tools to organize it, 6 hours, held by C. Gianollo (16, 23, 24 april);
- glosses and examples, 6 hours, held by E. Miola (30 april, 7, 8 may).

Assessment methods
Attendance and participation in the activities of the Laboratory count as an evaluation criterion for the purposes of the final assessment, which will consist in an oral exam and lab sessions.
The oral exam aims at assessing the assimilation of the notion discussed during the course, and of the basic methods that drive linguistic analysis and current research in the field of linguistics.
It is obligatory for the students to sign up for the exam through Almaesami.Teaching tools
