Learning outcomes

At the end of the module the student applies the knowledge acquired relating to technical, relational and educational skills. Develops methodological skills relating to care planning. The activity develops in preparation for the internship experience.

Course contents

The program of the Professionalizing Laboratory is developed in fundamental macro areas which, in turn, are divided into modules. The areas and modules are aimed at the acquisition of technical and gestural skills which represent the practical application of the knowledge learned during the theoretical lessons. Module A. Basic care/elimination: Mobilization (positions, bed-wheelchair, hemiplegic patient), Nutrition (water testing, enteral nutrition, SNG management) Hygiene (total body, oral cavity, genito-perinal) Dressings I (wound assessment, simple dressings) Urinary elimination (bladder catheterization, incontinence aids, sample collection) Faecal elimination (microenema, evacuating enema, rectal inspection, sample collection) Module B. Assessment and taking charge: Vital parameters (Temperature, BP, HR, RR, SpO2, ECG) and administration of O2 therapy Relational Laboratory Primary Health Care: qualified listening Module C. Therapy: Pharmaceutical forms (oral, topical, inhalation, etc) Infusion therapy (syringe drug aspiration, infusion, IM, SC injection), Vascular access (infusion set preparation, blood sampling, CVP positioning)

Teaching methods

The lessons will take place within the Degree Course Laboratory. The teaching method consists in the practical simulation, by the student, of updated procedures according to the standards of Evidence Based Practice. Students will be assisted by expert nurses and educational coordinators during the execution of the activities; the activities will be preceded by briefing moments and concluded with debriefing moments in order to focus the student's attention on the general principles of the procedures.

Assessment methods

The exam will focus on the practical simulation of two procedures and the description of the materials used

Teaching tools

In order to reinforce and deepen basic clinical aspects of care, an OPEN LAB session is planned at the end of the laboratory in the presence of expert tutors and teaching coordinators
