The following topics will be explored during the seminar course:

- Musealization and decoloniality: issues, discussions, contemporary experiments

- Indigenous heritages and musealization (Nova Cartography's experiences and projects from Amazonia)

- Thinking Amazonia: inhabitants of the forest, social cartographies and museum representations

- Issues and challenges of co-designing an exhibition with the Museo Civico di Modena

Teaching methods

The itinerary includes a series of seminars and presentations that will also feature the involvement of scholars, teachers and experts (few guests will be connected from Brazil). Workshops, group work, and meetings with and at the Civic Museum of Modena are also planned.

Assessment methods

At the completion of the program, the students must submit a paper of their choice from the two options below, in order to receive the 3 CFUs:

- a paper (minimum 3000 - approx. 9000 characters) on a topic related to the course. The topic will be chosen after consultation with the seminar lecturer.

- a summary paper and critical restitution of any specific activity assigned and carried out as part of the seminar and under the supervision of the Museum and the course lecturer.

The aforementioned work will constitute the only evidence required for eligibility, which will be recorded on the day of the exam round.

Teaching tools

The proposed pathway includes the use of the Virtuale platform to share video and audio materials, making selected excerpts available taken from some of the texts discussed during the seminars.

The Museum of Modena will provide additional materials useful for the pathway, both through its website and during the seminars.
