Learning outcomes
By the end of the laboratory the student: is able to use some of the concepts he/she came in contact with, by applying them to specific contexts and experiences; by select reading he/she has some knowledge of the discipline-specific vocabulary and is able to use it in his/her written assignment.
Course contents
The aim of the workshop is to provide students with concrete tools for listening, analysing, criticising and describing contemporary musical works using appropriate vocabulary.
Part of the workshop will focus on the selection of a group of musical works and related readings. Students may participate in group exercises, consisting of classroom presentation and discussion of a musical work and some previously assigned readings. Some possible readings that will be assigned for the exercises are already indicated in the Texts/Bibliography.
Students with SLD or temporary or permanent disabilities. It is suggested that they get in touch as soon as possible with the relevant University office (https://site.unibo.it/studenti-con-disabilita-e-dsa/en) and with the lecturer in order to seek together the most effective strategies for following the lessons and/or preparing for the examination.

Assessment methods
Paper assignment. The paper can deal either with one of the study cases examined during the lessons, or with a musical work chosen from the sheets of Griffith's book indicated in the bibliography and to be agreed in advance with the lecturer.The paper should be emailed to the lecturer two days prior to the chosen call for the 12-credit exam (Institutions plus Laboratory).
Students who will have actively participated in one of the classroom group exercises will be exempted from having to write the term paper.
