Learning outcomes

The course must lead the student to know the basic grammatical and lexical structures of the Arabic language and possess an elementary linguistic competence both oral and written that enables him to interact in a limited number of everyday communicative situations. 

Course contents

The alphabet: The fundamental notions of phonetics, a full knowledge of orthography and morphology.

Grammar: the article, pronouns, demonstratives in the singular, the noun (gender and number), some interrogative particles, the construct state "Idhafa", the adjective, the simple nominal sentence, the simple verbal sentence, the elementary concordances , the verb of the first regular form. The concordances between verb and subject, conjugations of the verb in the past tense and numbers up to 10.

Basic linguistic knowledge to introduce yourself and hold a simple conversation. 

Readings/Bibliography

The texts examined during the lessons relate to simple communicative contexts: presentation of themselves and of others, simple daily activities reports etc. A mandatory bibliography is not required, the information and materials will be provided at the beginning and during the course.

Teaching methods

the course applies an integrative method based on a communicative approach through lectures, exercises, multimedia and workshops. the goal of the method is to try to prepare students for all language skills (listening, reading, speaking, writing)

Assessment methods

course attendance is mandatory and homework is very important to pass the exam.

the exam includes two parts: Written test (grammar and comprehension); Oral test (questions on the written test and speaking test).

During the course the exam modality and other details will be explained.
