Learning outcomes
At the end of the learning module the studente will understand: the processes of the normal pregnancy and parturition; the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of the most common maternal and fetal complications; the biological basis of normal reproduction and its most common abnormalities; the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of the most frequent diseases involving the female genital tract; the etiopathogenesis of genital tract neoplasms, and the principles of prevention, diagnosis and treatment
Course contents
Principles of human embryology and teratogenesis. Maternal adaptations in pregnancy. Principles of antenatal care, obstetric ultrasound, drugs in pregnancy and lactation. labor and delivery. Obstetric surgery. Congental anomalies: impact, diagnosis, screening. Infections in pregnancy. Miscarriage and trophoblastic disease. Ectopic pregnancy. Anti-erythocyte alloimmunizations. Placenta previa and placental abruption. Premature delivery. Hypertension in pregnancy. fetal growth restriction. Diabetes in pregnancy. Multiple gestations. Maternal diseases in pregnancy. From symptoms to diagnosis of the most common obstetric complications. Reproductive axis and female gonadal function regulation throughout life. The normal and abnormal menstrual cycle. Hyperandrogenism and PCOS. Pathophysiology and clinic of menopause. Contraception. Endometriosis and female chronic pelvic pain. Infertility and sterility. Assisted reproduction. Assessment methods
The end-of-course exam aims to evaluate the achievement of the didactic objectives by verifying the student's ability to apply his or her knowledge and to make the necessary logical-deductive connections.
The final evaluation consists of an oral test on the topics of the program.
Gradation of the final grade:
Preparation on a very limited number of topics covered in the course and analytical skills that emerge only with the help of the teacher, expressed in an overall correct language → 18-19;
Preparation on a limited number of topics covered in the course and ability to autonomous analysis only on purely executive matters, expression in correct language → 20-24;
Preparation on a large number of topics covered in the course, ability to make independent choices of critical analysis, mastery of specific terminology → 25-29;
Basically exhaustive preparation on the topics covered in the course, ability to make autonomous choices of critical analysis and connection, full mastery of specific terminology and ability to argue and self-reflection → 30-30L.Teaching tools
The teaching material consists of Powerpoint presentations for each individual topic. The didactic materials deemed useful for the purposes of preparation will be placed on the University's platforms or will be available from the teacher.
