85239 - Traumatology and First Aid

Academic Year 2024/2025

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student possesses elementary medical-clinical elements for the classification and recognition of the type of trauma, the traumatic mechanism and the basic knowledge of the diagnostic process and treatment following trauma. In particular, the student: - is able to recognize the biological and mechanical mechanisms the musculoskeletal trauma; - knows the fundamental elements to determine a diagnosis; - knows the basic elements to formulate the various types of treatment in musculoskeletal traumatology; - acquires the basic notions of first aid to cope with situations that can acutely arise during sports, both in the competitive and amateur fields. The student then learns to recognize the entity and severity of the acute event, to identify the situations for which there is a need for medical intervention and to provide first aid while awaiting the help of specialized personnel.
