Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student: - knows the basics of clinical psychology: educating to the relationship - knows the stressful events in the life cycle - knows the psychic conflict and psychic disorders - knows the psychological development of the individual in the evolutionary arc - knows the modalities communicative information that can be used with the patient in developmental age, with the adult and family patient - knows the characteristics of the clinical interview in the health sector.

Definition of Clinical Psychology and areas of application.

The clinical interview and the phases of life.

The main models of the mind.

Attachment theory: interpersonal relationships and psychological development, the strange situation and the style of attachment. Mentalization.

The contribution of psychodynamics to the understanding of: psychological development, conflict and psychic disorder, relationship between educator and assisted person. 1) Psychoanalysis, the psychosexual phases, the Oedipus complex. 2) The psychology of the ego, psychological defenses and adaptation. 3) The theory of object relations, the schizo-paranoid and depressive phases, preyipic hatred and envy. 4) The psychology of the Self and the problem of narcissism, the self-object and the psychopathology of the deficit.

The problem of diagnosis in clinical psychology: the DSM V and the Kernberg model.

Elements of psychotherapy: transference and countertransference, resistances and defenses.

Teaching methods

Teaching consists of 8 frontal lessons of 3 hours each for a total of 24 hours. The contents of the program will be presented with examples of clinical cases.

Assessment methods

The verification is aimed at evaluating the learning of the main models of the mind in order to understand, manage and improve the relationship between the healthcare provider and the client. The verification, through written exam, consists of 31 multiple choice questions (for each question, four answers to choose from). The verification will last for 45 minutes. There is also an ongoing test which consists of 31 true / false answers lasting 30 minutes.
