Course contents

EPIDEMIOLOGY OF IHD. Incidence and geographical distribution of IHD in both sex.

SEX AND IHD RISK PROFILE. Traditional CV risk factors (HTN, DM, SMK, Hyperchol). Non-traditional CV risk factors (obesity, psychological disorders, social differences, marital status). Autoimmune diseases & inflammation. Female specific RF (estrogens, HRT, polycystic ovary syndrome, disorders of pregnancy, cancer). Transgender.

SEX DIFFERENCES IN THE ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY OF THE CORONARY CIRCULATION Anatomic features. Myocardial perfusion and coronary flow reserveAutonomic function.

SEX DIFFERENCES IN EARLY CORONARY ATHEROSCLEROSIS. Endothelial dysfunctionAtheroma burdenGenetic predisposition

STRENGTH AND WEAKNESS OF DIAGNOSTIC TESTS IN WOMEN. Markers of inflammation, necrosis and ventricular dysfunction. ECG and other non-invasive tests. Coronary angiography and invasive tests.

SEX DIFFERENCES IN ACUTE CORONARY SYNDROMES

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY. Microvascular dysfunction. Coronary Spasm. Plaque erosion / rupture /calcified nodules. Thrombus burden and composition in women with ACS. Coronary dissection.
