  • Moduli: Andrea Donelli (Modulo 1) Andrea Donelli (Modulo 2)
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures (Modulo 1) Traditional lectures (Modulo 2)
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Techniques and Management for Construction and Land (cod. 6008)

Learning outcomes

Aim of the course is to get graphic maturity in the use of the technical drawing and representation language, educating the student to the use of the opportune graphic tools and the development of the three-dimensional vision of the civil forms.

Course contents

One aspect of the program concerns the foundations of descriptive geometry. It will examine theoretical aspects applied to cases that can be found on pragmatic issues deduced from building construction, while the other aspect refers to representation; it will address the links between the areas of codified design and the construction rules that govern building design / drawing. Furthermore, some practical tests relating to the acquisition of the building will follow, graphically and geometrically returning codified models inherent to construction details of the building. The fundamentals of CAD applications will make the student go through a conceptual and subsequently application process inherent in automated design/drawing through the use of AutoCAD software. The training objectives, teaching methods, notes, which belong to the coordinated and stabilized scientific, ontological and ethical disciplinary practice, also defined by the experience of the degree course in Laurea in Tecniche per l’edilizia e il territorio, will be reported below in the detailed program.

Teaching methods

The course, whose attendance is essential given its prevalent experimental character, is divided into ex-cathedra lessons, communications and exercises and develops three didactic sectors in close correlation: theoretical reflection, technical information and practical application.

The lessons will address the basic disciplinary notions relating to the fundamental geometric concepts, methods and tools of representation, the transposition of the experience from traditional drawing with the tracing tools and digital with AutoCAD, while the application exercises will cover all the topics covered in the course.

- Theory (Thinking)
Disciplinary foundations. Visual perception and projective space. Geometric structures of space.

- Technique (Structure)
Plane geometry; Projective and descriptive geometry. Codes and standards of the drawing, and CAD: drawing of details and construction details.

- Practice (Application)
The exercises, framed by specific introductory explanations, are conceived as fundamental moments of applicative verification of the theoretical and technical topics covered: they have the purpose of developing the necessary executive skills and giving meaning to the geometric and constructive graphic production as a place of critical mediation between theoretical and practical propositions of building. For each exercise, a period of “assisted” development and correction is given, beyond which each discussion is considered concluded and sent back directly to the examination tests.

Assessment methods

During the module some exercises with the initials "E" are foreseen, followed by the progressive number of the assigned topic. (some to be carried out also in the classroom) as a check to take the exam, and already started in their explanation during the lessons. They must be completed and subjected to assessment on the verification dates set out in the course calendar. These assessments attest to active attendance at the course and contribute to the formulation of the overall grade at the end of the semester. Any text relating to the exercise will be made available to the student.

The theme of the annual exercise concerns the collection of tables, that is, the creation of a repertoire of elements, parts, construction systems referring to the constitution of a sort of manual. This experience carried out during the Academic Year will be performed both by hand with the use of tracing tools and by CAD.

Please Note. All exercises are individual; the overall judgment on the preparation and on the work done by the student will be unique, of which at least the sufficiency must be achieved. Admission to the exams and the procedures for carrying out them is subject to the preliminary assessment of all exercises (repertoire tables) provided for in the course. Files in dwg formats; ctb; stb; pdf: any jpg or tif, must be filed on the delivery date set for the exam sessions.

Teaching tools

The examination is oral, requires the student to present a reasoned dissertation inherent to the topics addressed and carried out in the lessons with the discussion of all the exercises carried out in the semester and of the annual EA exercise, (tables of the repertoire drawn up according to a model by manual) of the course.
