Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student knows the basics of the French language; he/she is able to understand and produce written texts and oral discourse, expressing him/herself with relative fluency and spontaneity. The skills attained at the end of the first year are approximately at CEFR level B1.

Course contents

This course involves the study of the French language following the first part of the 'language with oral written practical exercises (second French language)' module. The aim will be to use the notions and knowledge acquired in the first semester correctly and effectively.

In addition, the four competences (reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written production, oral production) will be developed through a communicative and aational approach based on authentic documents.

The course is complemented by the French Language Assistantships held by Dr Marie-Line Zucchiatti (https://www.unibo.it/sitoweb/marieline.zucchiatti) with 70 % compulsory attendance.

Teaching methods

This second module involves the in-depth study of grammatical notions with a focus on the contrastive approach and practical exercises.

The use of audiovisual material and the Internet within the lessons is also envisaged.
It is strongly recommended to complete the grammar preparation foreseen within the course and the lecture with autonomous and individual work.

Assessment methods



The final examination of the second module 'language with practical written and oral exercises (second language)' comprises

- a written test of sentence translation (contrastive grammar)
- a written production test of an argumentative text

- the oral test will consist of the presentation and summary of
journalistic article read at the time of the test and in the discussion
on a French-language novel.

The methodology will be explained in detail in the classroom.

It is necessary to have passed the written test with a mark of 18/30 in order to
be admitted to the oral test. For the written test, the use of a
dictionary is not permitted.
