Course contents

  • Introduction to EMJMD WOP-P
  • Professional Organizations in WOP Psychology
  • Scientist-Practitioner Model and Evidence-based practices
  • Ethics and deontological issues
  • European policies with WOP Psychology

Given the highly interactive feature of this course, ad hoc reading materials and documents will be selected and discussed in the classroom, following the development of learning process.

Basic and necessary readings are as follows:

  1. Bartram D. & Roe R.A. (2005). Definition and assessment of competences in the context of the European diploma in Psychology. European Psychologist, 10, 93-102.
  2. Briner R.B., Rousseau D.M. (2011). Evidence-Based I–O Psychology: Not There Yet. Industrial and Organizational Psychology, 4, 3–22.

Teaching methods

Lectures, in-class exercises, case study, assignment of individual or small group tasks, scientific paper analysis will be used.

Teaching materials will be uploaded on the e-learning platform. Students are strongly encouraged to consult these resources for an active learning. Students are expected to come to class prepared to discuss and ask questions, since they are by definition the most important persons interested in the quality of learning process.

Assessment methods

No dedicated final assessment will be done for this module, which is the first part of the whole Orientation Course.
Therefore, learning outputs for this module will be assessed together with the second one (taught by prof. Chiesa), following the rules and conditions presented there (see here: https://www.unibo.it/sitoweb/rita.chiesa/teachings/2023).

In particular, learning acquisitions made by students in this first part of the course will be demonstrated by their ability to show mastery of the Scientist-Practitioner Model, and to make evident the role played by evidence-based practices, when discussing the contents pertaining to prof. Chiesa's module of this Orientation Course.

Teaching tools

Slides, movies.

Discussions based on previous team-, and individual-based work made by students on specific assignments (e.g., documents to review and summarize in a critical way).
