Learning outcomes

By the end of the laboratory the student: knows the main research methodologies in the respective field of study; acquires an in-depth knowledge of the structure and organization of an argumentative text; is able to collect and organize primary and secondary sources, and to write a bibliography; knows how to apply appropriate editorial criteria in the finalization of the text.

Course contents

Topics covered:

- What is a dissertation
- The choice of a topic
- The bibliographical and filmographic research
- The sources: primary, secondary, oral, archival, digital
- The organization of the text: table of contents and structure of the thesis
-Argumentative writing
-Citations and notes
-Drafting, editing and formatting the text

Assessment methods

To obtain eligibility, students will have to complete the assignments published on the Virtuale.unibo platform. The assignments are aimed at mastering the tools and methods of academic research and writing, e.g., writing an abstract, compiling a bibliography, writing a footnote, and more.
