Learning outcomes
The seminar aims to present tools for the creation of effective content across various media contexts, with a particular focus on digital environments. At the end of the seminar, the student will: be familiar with and able to use key storytelling techniques; assess how the specific affordances of digital platforms impact the possibilities of employing narrative styles and practices; be capable of planning communication strategies based on a multimedia or transmedia approach to storytelling; and have familiarity with case histories related to storytelling campaigns and initiatives for corporate actors, institutions, and NGOs.
Course contents
The seminar this year will focus on political storytelling in the context of contemporary election campaigns characterized by the centrality of digital media. The first module will be dedicated to presenting the fundamental elements that constitute the strategic and tactical aspects in the planning and management of an election campaign. Specific attention is given to aspects related to the enhancement, through storytelling, of programmatic elements and candidates' personality. The second module will focus on developing a strategic plan for an election campaign, with particular attention to the dimension of digital communication. Finally, in the last part of the seminar, we will work on the production of media content for the campaign.
