Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student possesses knowledge, within his competence, related to pathophysiology, functional and instrumental semeiotics and clinical and pharmacological and instrumental therapy of diseases of the cardiovascular system

Course contents

Meaning of vital signs monitoring, and cardiovascular implications in the detection of altered values (heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, volume of urine output, body temperature) Diagnostics of chest pain of a cardiac nature: stable angina, unstable angina and acute myocardial infarction; non-ischemic cardiovascular chest pain (dissecting aortic aneurysm, pericarditis, pneumothorax, pulmonary embolism). Pathophysiology of stable angina and acute coronary syndromes. Clinic: stable angina and acute coronary syndromes. Principles of therapy: stable angina and acute coronary syndromes. Chronic heart failure and acute heart failure (acute pulmonary oedema). Cause, clinic and principles of therapy. Role of the nurse in the treatment of disease progression. Valvulopathies (epidemiology, etiology, physiopathology, instrumental diagnostics). Learn more about aortic valve stenosis. Cardiomyopathies, myocarditis, endocarditis, pericarditis: brief outline of clinic and prognosis. normal ECG. Meaning of P, QRS, T waves and ST segment. Arrhythmias (classification: bradyarrhythmias and tachyarrhythmias). Atrial fibrillation. Malignant ventricular tachyarrhythmias. Instrumental tests in cardiology (ECG, stress tests, ultrasound, scintigraphy, angiography, magnetic resonance, new endovascular imaging techniques) indications for their use and limits. Tasks and priorities of the nursing staff in cardiovascular emergencies.
