Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the students will be able to describe the general concepts of the Occupational Medicine and occupational hygiene.

Course contents

1. Basic principles in occupational hygiene.

2. Human physiology and industrial diseases.

3. Fundamentals of toxicology.

4. Adverse effects of chemical risk.

5. Assessment of health risks.

6. Measurement of airborne contaminants.

7. Hygiene standards and occupational exposure limits.

8. Biological monitoring and health surveillance.

9. Noise.

10. Thermal environment (principles, evaluation and control).

11. Optical.

12. Non-Ionizing radiation.

13. Ionizing radiation.

14. Careers in occupational hygiene.

Teaching methods

Classroom lectures, real case study, videos, role plays, and practical excercises using occupational hygiene tools.
