Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to acquire the basic information on the processes of the internationalization of the fashion system, focusing on the different phases, project, manufacturing, distribution and consumption. Through the examination of the main characteristics of the contemporary textile-clothing sector, the student is able to frame the structural and cultural dynamics characterizing the globalization of the fashion system.

Course contents

The course will address the basic coordinates for an understanding of the globalisation of fashion and the forms of sustainability:


the evolution of the Eurocentric model and the spread of fashion around the world;


luxury, 'ethnic' fashion and cultural appropriation;


the exploitation of animals in fashion production and representation;


next-generation materials entering the fashion industry such as mushroom derivatives, mycelia, fruit waste.

Assessment methods

The examination consists of a written examination with multiple-choice tests based on the examination texts.
Depending on the number of entrants, there may be specific assessment requirements for those attending, which will be communicated in due course.
