Learning outcomes
Improving students knowledge and competencies about nutritional aspects in different life periods (differences due to the physiological changing of needs during growth and senescence).
Reflcting about the constant interconnection between nutrition and health status.
Developing abilities in practical application of theese knowledges.
Course contents
Nutritional aspects in different kind of geriatric patients (autonomous/dependent in activity of daily living, with or without motricity impairment). Physiological changing of body composition during senescence will be especially stressed.
We are then going to focus on nutritional evaluation and nutritional needs during typical geriatric illnesses and syndrome, with particular attention to those condition which can seriously modify nutritional habits in terms of quantity and quality.
