Course contents

Program Therapeutic Patient Education (ETP) is a new educational modality aimed at chronic patients that is systematic, ongoing, integrated to care and patient-centered, enabling people to live optimally with their illness. ETP enables the acquisition of knowledge and skills in self-management - self-care and adaptation to the disease that improve people's quality of life. It is addressed to the patient, his or her family and care-giver, when present, and enables people to adapt the disease to their lives. It is centered on the therapeutic relationship with the patient. It allows for effectiveness and efficiency results for the person and the Health Service; it also allows the nurse to become a caregiver-educator.
