Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student - possesses the knowledge of the main diseases of the visual apparatus of both developmental and adult age; - knows the ocular alterations in the course of systemic diseases and of the craniofacial district; - knows ocular semeiology and its implications in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular pathologies, odontostomatological neurological and internal diseases.

Course contents

Pathology of the orbit and annexes; eyelid pathology; conjunctivitis and keratitis; open-angle and angle-closure glaucoma; cataract; uveitis; diseases of the retina and vitreous body; diseases of the optic nerve and visual pathways; strabismus and changes in ocular motility; eye and systemic diseases.

Teaching methods

Lectures in person or remotely on the Teams platform

Assessment methods

Multiple choice quiz exam (31 quizzes: 9 of Visual System Diseases, 7 of Audiology, 7 of Otolaryngology, 8 of Odontostomatological Diseases). By assigning 1 point for each correct question, the student will be able to obtain a grade of 30 with honors if they answer all the questions correctly and consequently the grade will drop by one unit for each incorrect question. Therefore 18 will coincide with 18 correct questions out of 31. Test duration: 1 hour. Alternative: possibility of oral exam on request on the program. The use of mobile phones or manuals is not allowed. During the pandemic, the exam will take place orally on the Teams platform.
