Learning outcomes

At the end of the module the student has knowledge of the main nephrological diseases that require podiatry

Course contents

The course program includes lectures on the following topics:

- Semeiotics in Nephrology

- Nephrotic syndrome

- Nephritic syndrome

- Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and Kidney

- Diabetic nephropathy

- Acute renal failure

- Chronic renal failure

- Insights on calciphylaxis and kidney transplantation

Readings/Bibliography

Course material and the "Garibotto" Nephrology Manual is also suggested for further study

Teaching methods

The lessons focus on the presentation of basic concepts of the topics, which provide the student with awareness of the severity of the prognosis of patients affected by the main renal diseases. Another fundamental aspect relates to the complications of kidney disease which have increasingly become a multidisciplinary issue and involve all health professionals including podiatrists. Therefore the course will provide practical elements of semiotics and treatment of cardiovascular and general complications of patients with renal disease

Frontal examination.
