Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student knows the possibilities of Neuroradiology both on a diagnostic, therapeutic-interventional and research level. The course begins with a broad and general illustrative exposition of the corpus of the Neuroradiology discipline.
In the following lessons, the various investigation techniques and the anatomical bases of CT, MRI and angiographic studies of the central nervous system will be presented.
The radiological diagnostic bases of the main neurological pathologies.
The possibilities of both endovascular and percutaneous interventional procedures, dealing with aneurysms, MAV, spinal and disc pathology.
Finally it will conclude with the analysis of the indications for tests and diagnostic protocols.
Course contents
Neuroradiological anatomy
Study techniques and main neuroradiological findings in vascular pathology
Traumatic pathology
Tumor pathology
Study techniques and main neuroradiological findings in degenerative spinal pathology
Readings/Bibliography
Any basic Neuroradiology text. Some suggestions:
- "LEZIONI DI NEURORADIOLOGIA" - Bozzao L. et al. Ed. Esculapio
- "ATLANTE DI NEUROSCIENZE DI NETTER" - Ed. Elsevier
The chapters dedicated to the tomographic anatomy of the central nervous system, skull and spine are adequate, possibly integrated with the notes taken in class.
Teaching methods
Lectures with the use of PPT presentations using tutorial approach and problem solving techniques
Any further information may be discussed outside of lesson times with those who explicitly request it.
Assessment methods
The test will be oral. The student's ability to apply their theoretical knowledge and make the necessary logical-deductive connections will be verified.
The grade obtained in the individual modules contributes to determining the grade of the Integrated Course in proportion to the teaching load expressed in CFU.
Grading of the final grade: Preparation on a very limited number of topics covered in the course and analytical skills that emerge only with the help of the teacher, expression in overall correct language → 18-19;
Preparation on a limited number of topics covered in the course and ability to independently analyze only purely executive questions, expression in correct language → 20-24;
Preparation on a large number of topics covered in the course, ability to make independent choices of critical analysis, mastery of specific terminology → 25-29;
Substantially exhaustive preparation on the topics covered in the course, ability to make autonomous choices of critical analysis and connection, full mastery of the specific terminology and ability to argue and self-reflect → 30-30L.
Teaching tools
Slide show in PowerPoint.
Classroom material: the handouts of the lessons discussed in class are given to the students.
