Learning outcomes

At the end of the module, the student possesses knowledge, to the extent of his/her competence, related to anesthesiologic pathophysiology and resuscitation and intensive care

Course contents

1-Identification and management of the critical patient with organ failure and assessment of the critical patient according to the ABCDE scheme

2-airway assessment and management (A)

--Assessment and management of the patient in respiratory failure (B)

--ethiopathogenesis and pathophysiology of respiratory failure (pneumothorax, pulmonary embolism, COPD, acute pulmonary edema, ARDS)

3-ethiopathogenesis and pathophysiology of shock state (C): right and left heart failure, cardiogenic shock, hypovolemic/hemorrhagic shock, septic shock, anaphylactic shock, neurogenic shock

4-Management of the patient in cardiorespiratory arrest (C)

-hints of ALS

-postarrest syndrome, therapeutic hypo-normothermia

-concept of limiting care and end-of-life treatment

5-ethiopathogenesis and pathophysiology of major diseases of the central nervous system with intensivity interest (epilepsy, meningoencephalitis, head trauma)(D)

6-Encephalic death and organ and tissue donation(D)

7-management of polytrauma

-hints of ATLS

8-management of the pediatric patient in the ICU.
